Kurosh Ameri, Ph.D., is Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Soley Therapeutics. A molecular biologist and multidisciplinary researcher with deep expertise in cellular stress sensing, he leads the scientific direction of Soley’s platform and its integration of high-resolution cell-state biology with scalable discovery technologies. Before founding Soley, Dr. Ameri’s research helped establish the scientific foundation that ultimately became Soley’s cell-sensing discovery platform.
Dr. Ameri has held research positions at the University of Oxford, Stanford University School of Medicine, and UCSF. His research has spanned oxygen sensing, metabolic stress, cell dormancy, and intracellular information flow, with peer-reviewed publications in Blood, British Journal of Cancer, PLoS One, and Cell Reports. His foundational work at University of Oxford defined how cells discriminate between hypoxia and anoxia and helped establish the modern field of tumor anoxia. He authored the definition of anoxia for the Encyclopedia of Cancer and his research was featured in UCSF news and recognized with awards including the Stanford University School of Medicine Dean’s Award.
Dr. Ameri earned his B.Sc. Honors in molecular biology from the University of Glasgow and his Ph.D. in molecular oncology, molecular biology, and molecular pathology through joint training at the University of Sheffield and the University of Oxford’s Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine.
